Alise Stopina on gray background for bodyshot

Alise Stopiņa is a Latvian glass artist, educator, and researcher whose work explores the intersections of tradition, technology, and material practice. After completing her PhD program (ABD), she’s currently dedicated to creating more art works and submitting her research thesis regarding the Environmental Art movement and Glass Art sustainability.

Alise’s work brings attention to varying sensitive or unpopular topics, often through the use of satire. Her pieces often focus on topics relating to mental health, climate change, social awareness, political uncertainties and more. Specializing in flameworking and screen-printing techniques, her pieces explore the fragility of existence through the fragility of her own work. Through the use of new techniques, technology and personal experience, she’s constantly pushing the boundaries of art, and what is possible. Alise has exhibited internationally—earning a Bronze Prize in China.
